If you do not calculate the parents, you will see warning messages to alert you of this. You should click this Recalculate Parents button any time you add or move trees around in your scene, to ensure that all the trees know which trees are their parents. But when the camera comes close, the parent tree turns its children on, so that they begin to calculate their distance to the camera, and perform their smooth transitions as needed. This saves a lot of otherwise wasted processing power. When the parent sees that the camera is very far away, it literally shuts off the scripts on all of its children trees, so that those child trees no longer run their Update() functions at all. The trees around it are called "children" trees. Each parent tree will control all of the trees around it. That's where parent trees come to the rescue. But if you have thousands of trees in your scene, it would take a lot of processing power for every tree to calculate its distance to the camera. This allows the tree to fade between the low quality billboard, and the high quality tree mesh. Each tree calculates its distance to the main camera. To understand what parents are, and what they do, I first need to explain why they are needed. Recalculate Parents : This button recalculates the parents in your scene. There are quite a few options in the manager, so let's see what each option does. The rest of this tutorial assumes that you've done the Quck Start Guide, and your manager is already finished with its basic setup in your scene. FAR MANAGER TUTORIAL HOW TOTo learn how to create it, please check out the Quick Start Guide, and then return to this tutorial when you are finish with the basic setup of the manager. The manager isn't there by default, you will need to create it. This can be a huge time saver, especially if you have thousands of trees in your scene! You can change the color and quality of all the trees at once, so that you don't have to try to modify them one at a time. The LushLOD Trees Manager is a script that allows you to easily control most of the common settings for all the LushLOD Trees in your scene. An up-to-date version of this guide is available to be viewed online at: It's active, friendly and very knowledgeable and may well give you a working solution for all your files, without involving Automator. And writing the correct command is beyond my limited skills with ExifTool.Īt this point I would suggest raising your original question on the ExifTool Forum. The ExifTool QuickTime Tags page appears to suggest that most if not all of these tags can be edited with ExifTool, but as I say, I'm honestly not sure which you would need to change (probably all). As I understand it there is no exif tag group. Some include timezone information, some do not. So, apart from the three System tags, there are date and time creation and modify tags in the QuickTime, UserData and Keys groups as well as date/time tags for the individual Tracks within the movie. '-G1' asks for the output to be preceded by the tag group name. This returns every line of output that includes the character sequence 'date'. mov ~ % exiftool /Users/hd/Desktop/somefile.mov -G1 | grep -i date To illustrate, I ran the following ExifTool command on a. I can't offer an instant solution, but it may be worth considering that Photos doesn't necessarily use the system file create date to sort on, and that you may need to use something like ExifTool. newer dates), I'm sure we can craft something. If you can clarify these details (specific file name formats and old vs. HOW TO CHANGE DATE USING EXIFTOOL INSTALLIf you need newer creation dates you need to install Xcode (along with it's associated shell tools) to get SetFile, which can set any date.Īs I think about it, file dates may not be the issue anyway - media files (photos, videos, etc.) often contain embedded metadata that include things like dates, resolution, data rates, etc), and modifying the metadata may be an easier path. However, setting a newer creation date is a whole other issue.Īs long as the creation date is earlier you can use the built-in shell command touch. It's also possible (and simple) to set a creation date that is earlier than the file's current creation date. It's simple to change the modification date of a file. Then there is the issue of the creation date. It's likely a legacy issue since times would usually be colon delimited (e.g. For one, those filename are concerning - usually / is not allowed in file names (since it's used as a directory delimiter), so that may need some special handling. HOW TO CHANGE DATE USING EXIFTOOL UPDATEWe will also update previous publications to reflect our new metadata standards. This is little more than a text parsing exercise to extract the relevant data from the filename, so that's pretty easy.Īs is often the case, though, the devil is in the details. Instead, you would have to use the Advanced formatting feature to split up the filename. Because the filename isn't a timestamp type tag, you can't use the -d (dateformat) option as you discovered. Also take note that exiftool has limited ability to write to video files. Here is an extract of it: //initialise the command $command=’/usr/local/bin/exiftool ‘ //prepare commands and associated variables retrieved from our DB $command.=’-XMP-dc:Contributor=”’.$manuscript_edited_by.’” ‘ $command.=’-XMP-dc:Creator=”’.$var_list_authors.’” ‘ $command.=’-XMP-dc:Date=”’.$year.’” ‘ $command.=’-XMP-dc:Format=”application/pdf” ‘ $command.=’-XMP-dc:Identifier=”’.$manuscript_doi.’” ‘ $command.=’-XMP-dc:Publisher=”’.$publisher.’” ‘ $command.=’-XMP-dc:Rights=”’.$licence.’” ‘ … //add file to be updated $command.=$file.'.pdf' //execute the command //“2>&1” is one way to get a log on your screen in case of errors $output=shell_exec($command.' 2>&1') echo $output //save the metadata in a text file $output=shell_exec('/usr/local/bin/exiftool -G1 ‘.$file.'.pdf > metadata.txt 2>&1') echo $outputĪs such, we hope to have a few more visitors interested in our publications, who will find it easier to happen upon our website. Instead, you'll have to use something like CreateDate. We wrote a script in PHP retrieving the information in our Firebase database to populate the fields automatically. The beauty of it is that the process can be automatised. |
